105th Annual Show, Saturday 18th March 2017, Nabiac Showground

105 years

2011 Summary

After 3 record breaking years for the Nabiac Show the showers could not dampen the Wallamba District showgoers enthusiasm for a great day out. They enjoyed good entertainment and wonderful exhibits in every section.

The Poultry Pavilion was crowded with the cackles of happy chooks. Mr Neil Coombes, Poultry Judge from Wauchope, was very impressed with the outstanding standard of exhibits. A huge thankyou to the hardworking stewards, Peter Chowne and Tony Schubert, who encouraged so many new exhibitors this year.

The horses in the Grand Parade were all magnificent and stood in the rain as Rob Oakeshott MP declared the Show open. The high standard of horse events, beef cattle and dairy goat exhibits is a credit to our local and area exhibitors.

Our Junior Showgirl entrants, Shannon Thorsby, Summer Lambie, Kelle Nicholson, Lauren Styles and Claire Matthews braved the dismal weather. The judges were impressed with all of them and the final decision was difficult. Lauren Styles was presented with the winners sash during the Grand Parade.

A big thankyou to Mik's Pet Barn for sponsoring our very popular Pet Show and to Rob McMahon and Keith Lorkin from Forster Vet Hospital and Great Lakes Vet Hospital for judging it. The pets and their very proud owners delighted the watching crowd.

A big crowd pleaser before the Demolition Derby was the firefighting demonstration by the Nabiac, Minimbah, Diamond Beach and Tuncurry No 1 Rural Fire Services. Throughout the day they were on hand to give good advice and information to our showgoers. Their voluntary service is much admired and we thank them on behalf of our communities.

Once again the Demolition Derby attracted a huge crowd and helped raise funds for equipment for the Children's Ward of the Manning Base Hospital. Huge thanks to Col and Margo Menser, Phil Isaacs and the Mid North Coast Derby Drivers, James Newell, Dave Nelson, the Derby sponsors and to all the volunteers and drivers who put in many hard hours preparing cars for the event. Their efforts are much appreciated by both the Hospital and the Show Society.

The 2011 show finished with a terrific fireworks display sponsored by Matthew Morris of Nabiac Hotel Motel and Greg Martin of Nabiac Excavations.

The Committee thanks our hardworking stewards and volunteers for another successful Show.
